Job Title: Event Planner - Annual Moot Court Competition
Employer: Save the Children
Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya
Application Deadline: 12th Oct 2013
Background
The Annual Conference and Moot Court Competition on Children Rights is an event that is held annually bringing together about 100 law students from more than 10 universities in the East and Horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan and Tanzania), law practitioners, legal academics, children rights activists and members of the treaty body (Committee on the Rights and Welfare of the Child) in a one day conference on children rights and a two-day moot court competition.
Each year, different themes around children rights have been discussed and mooted.
The event is modeled around the theme of the day of the African child for that particular year.
In 2013, it is hoped that the theme of the event will be on the need to protect children from harmful cultural practices, in tandem with the theme of the Day of the African Child 2013 as envisaged by the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
The event is organized and hosted jointly by Save the Children, and a University law clinic from Kenya.
