The FBC Manager is overall responsible for matters of child and youth development within the National Association:-
• S/he builds a partnership and team with other core-care co-workers, supporting them in key matters that affect the development of children and youth in the respective SOS Children’s Villages.
• His/hers responsibilities will include but not limited to ensuring a comprehensive range of high standard programmes to promote child and couth welfare, high quality educational and careers development, support of youth in job search and other occupational placement, and eventual community integration.
• S/he is the main contact person for the youth who have left the care of SOS (alumni) and helps them in settling in their new life.
• S/he brings together input and participation of various staff teams and project heads, National Office staff, the National Director as well as other stakeholders into supporting the development process for children and youth.
• S/he leads the national youth team and strictly supports the implementation of the youth policy
Education & Experience
• A degree in any Social Science discipline. A post graduate degree will be an added advantage.
• At least 5 years working experience in the field of child, youth and family care and development, and community and social development.
• Experience in awareness creation, mobilization and advocacy skills.
• Knowledge of social development issues affecting the work of the organisation, such as child rights, forms of childcare, HIV & AIDS, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and gender.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Senior leadership skills and ability to lead strategic processes effectively in the area of work.
• Knowledge in child care systems, communication, research, advocacy and child rights awareness.
• Good understanding of youth affairs and development matters.
• Good facilitation, group leadership and presentation skills.
• Profound knowledge of vocational training programmes development and management.
• Good partnership development & networking skills.
• Strong planning, organising and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge in planning, monitoring and evaluation on educational matters.
• Good time management and ability to prioritise effectively by keeping deadlines.
• Computer skills sufficient to be able to produce complex documents and statistics.
• Excellent communication, project proposal and report writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural / multi-ethnic environment while respecting diversity.
